Easy Summer Crafts To Try ~ A guest post by Katherine

Hi, everyone!!! Iโ€™m Katherine. You may know me from Teen Writersโ€™ Nook. And if not, Iโ€™d love for you to stop by and say hi!!! So, why am I suddenly guest posting on Shruthikaโ€™s blog? Well, itโ€™s because Shruthika hosted a TOTALLY FABULOUS Creativity Contest back in June, and my entry won! So, now youโ€™re seeing me today. XD Annndd since I received this opportunity through some โ€œcreativityโ€ I thought that todayโ€™s post could be on something creative/crafty.

Summer isnโ€™t over yet. And these crafts are so easy you can do them in no time! Here are a few of my ideas to get started:

  1. Seashells in a vase

Have lots of seashells but donโ€™t know what to do with them? Have you considered displaying them? Maybe this craft is for you!

I LOVE seashells!!! I have so many that you could probably say I collect them!! (I just never called it โ€œcollectingโ€ before. ๐Ÿ˜œ) Well, instead of filling up tubs or boxes and taking up closet space, I put the majority of my seashells in a clear, flower vase and set it on the top of my bookshelf. Itโ€™s so pretty and gives me that beachy feel. Iโ€™ve seen some images on the internet where inside the vase there were blue pebbles below the seashells. I think the pebbles are really pretty so I put some in the bottom of my seashell vase. If you have a lot of seashells you can use a large vase or multiple small ones. If you don’t have many seashells but still want to display the ones you have, you can use a small vase. Any size vase works.

  1. Seashell jewelry

I go easy on this one. When collecting seashells, Iโ€™ll often keep some that have small holes in them. That way I donโ€™t have to drill holes in the shell and the jewelry making becomes MUCH easier. You can get creative and make any kind of jewelry with seashells that fit your style. I often like to use pearl beads with my shell jewelry. It makes it very oceany and mermaidy (yeah, I donโ€™t think โ€œmermaidyโ€ is a word XDD).

  1. Sequined tail mermaid

This is probably my FAVORITE one!!! So, a while back I drew a mermaid on a card for my grandmother. (I like drawing mermaids, yโ€™all. XD) And then I had an idea: why not glue sequins on the tail to make it look like scales? So, thatโ€™s what I did. I used school glue for some of the sequins, and although that works, some of the sequins fell off. So, I used hot glue to glue the rest. If you prefer school glue, you can still use it; itโ€™s just that hot glue was stronger and therefore, the sequins were least likely to fall off.

And there you have it! Easy crafts to try out this summer! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope you enjoyed this post or maybe were inspired to try something new!

Thank you so much for this opportunity, Shruthika!!!!!!!!!!! <3333

Tell me in the comments: which craft idea are you most interested in? Until I hear from you . . . *puts on cool black sunglasses* Kat out!
